I would like to thank everyone that helped out with the raffle. S&M for donating the bike, Kris Henderschott for the amazing paint job and especially you for participating and spreading the word. We have tried to keep this going as long as we could to make as much money as we could, but some one has to win. Right? Tomorrow Friday Oct. 14 @ 5pm we will be picking a winner. We will pull a ticket and post it on the site and over at kickstartcycle.com. Once it is posted you will have 24 hrs. to contact us and claim the bike. If the bike is not claimed within 24 hrs. we will repeat the process till we have a winner. Fair enough? We will stop selling tickets tonight at 5pm so I can get all the tickets out. While we were talking we thought it might be cool to have our resident artist Kris Henderschott paint it to make it even more better. (he is feverishly working to get it done now!) Then we decided we should do something worthwhile with the money so we decided to raffle off the ONE OF A KIND S&M CR24 GYPSY RUN SPECIAL and donate ALL the proceeds to AIDAN HAS A POSSE. As always, there are no fees to participate on the run. The only thing you have to pay for is your gas and camping spot. The fees are, $10.00 Friday Night and $10.00 Saturday, ($16 if you want a lean to) Friday night you can pay when we get there, for Saturday night I would recommend calling up the campsite and reserving a Lean to if you want one. They go fast. As for the beer and food, as always Friday and Saturday nights the beer is free while it lasts. Friday night, here are places to eat near the campsite, or you can bring something with you. We will be having a cookout Saturday night. Our friend Papas, will be grilling up something nice for everyone. Cool?

First off I would like to thank all of you that support the run. Without you it would be kinda boring. In our fifth year we are going to try something different. Don't worry, we are not changing anything that makes the Gypsy Run what it is. Long story short, we are teaming up with the Brooklyn Invitational Bike Show to give you and yours more than a week worth of events in and around the New York area. It goes something like this, Pre Run Party, Gypsy Run, Super secret invite only party (Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!) DicE ParTy then we cap it off with the best bike show on the east coast! As you can imagine we are all working hard to make our fifth anniversary something to remember. as soon as details are set you will see it here first. We have set up on the Twitter, the Facebook and Blogger as well. So pick yer favorite social heroin and stay tuned!

Thanks for all the emails and well wishes. I am glad everyone had a great time. I got all the patch requests sorted out and will get them on the way to you. I have been busy working at the shop and getting ready for the upcoming extra large weekend of motorcycle enthusiasm! Starting off with a DicE party at the Matchless Bar in Brooklyn on Friday night. After taking care of my hangover I will be heading over to The Indian Larry Block Party. If you haven't been to one, don't miss it. Later in the day the 2nd annual Brooklyn invitational Bike Show begins and should last into the wee hours. We will have a booth up at the Bike show. Come by and find out what we have been up to, buy us a beer or just say hello. See ya there!

Joe the Fish

This year we raffled off two gift bags stuffed full of hard parts from our sponsors, swag, decks and good karma. We decided early on that to keep the books balanced we should do something worthwhile. Do you guys know Joe Cano? Joe the Fish got into a fight with a minivan and got his clock cleaned. He will need several surgeries and months to fully recover. We took half the proceeds from the raffle tickets and are donating it to Joe's bike rebuild fund. I spoke to Joe the other day to let him know what was up and he wanted me to let you all know that he was blown away by the support. This is always the hardest part for me, I never know what to say, other than thank you. Thank you to every single one of you that sponsored, ran chase, cooked, ran for beer, took pictures, listened to my bullshit stories, printed shirts and rode hundreds of miles just to get to the run. I am out of town for the next few days for work. I am getting pictures and videos together and will post them on the site as soon as I get home. During the run we ran out of shirts (I didn't think we would sell that many!) Andy is reprinting them and I will have them on the site along with the posters. If anyone who did the run did not get a patch, please email me and put "send me my fucking patch fat ass!" in the subject line with an address and I'll get it to you. Thirteen days away from the long weekend! Things are getting busy! We are getting the chase truck sorted out, fixing up bikes and making maps! The Run books will be posted this coming monday. We are going to post the run book as a PDF so you can print it out in advance. This will have all the info in it. Addresses, contact info, Routes, Maps and alternate routes incase you get lost. The printed books will be available at thursday's pre run party and at the kick off friday morning.

Things you need to know

• There is no registration
• There is no fee to participate in the run.
• Maps will be online before the run.
• Run books (maps and info) will be at the Pre Party and Cool Beans.
• All the costs for the run are paid for by the sponsors. So thank them.
• The beer at the campsites is free while it lasts.
• No one is going to hold your hand. Have your shit together.
• Show respect and you will get respect.
• Ride with your head. Find a pace you are comfortable with. It is not a race.
• The chase truck is for emergencies only. Please have a good reason for calling it.
• Do not ask chase truck to carry your crap.
• Clean up after yourself at the campsites.
• No fireworks at the campsites (anywhere else, knock yourself out!)
• Make sure your brake light works.
• Bring rain gear. No matter the weather, we ride.

We have a new spot for the pre run party. Originally we were having the party in Hoboken. Circumstances beyond our control forced us to find a new venue. Just as I was starting to freak out I got a call from Bobby Seeger from I ndian Larry Motorcycles. After hearing of my predicament he graciously offered up his shop for the new location. So the party is on Thursday Aug. 26 from 6pm till 12am. there will be plenty of bike parking and some refreshments courtesy of Bobby and I ndian Larry Motorcycles. I am finding out about hotels and will post them ASAP.

I am going to post a series of stories over the next few days and put together a photo gallery of everyones favorite pictures. Despite the rain the run kicked ass. I THINK we ended up doing around five hundred miles, most of it wet. Sunday the weather broke and the route was incredible. I have to be honest and say I am burnt out. I am going to leave it here for now and collect my thoughts and some pictures and post a proper post.

The Chase Truck

We have a great support team this year. Metalhead Greg and Radar are our chase and advance drivers. Greg is one of the best chase drivers on the planet and Radar is looking to dethrone him. So here is the deal with the chase truck. The chase truck will be following the run. If they sees anyone by the side of the road they will stop and help. There will basic tools and supplies on the truck. The truck WILL NOT wait around all day as you try to fix the unfixable. If you can't sort yourself out on the side of the road in a timely manner, on the trailer you go. There is an advance truck that will be arriving at the campsites before us and setting things up. This truck will be equipped with a major compliment of tools and supplies. (welder, compressor, generator, Etc.) That is where will try to fix you up right. The chase truck is not going to carry your personal shit, so don't ask. The driver's numbers will be published in the run books.

I am hoping this turns out to be another example of the historic inaccuracy of weathermen. If not, the run is still on. Because rain dates are for pussies! We had a bit of rain on last years run and we still made every mile and had a blast. So plan on getting wet. Pack your rain gear but hope that the weatherman is yet again WRONG!

I have been getting some emails asking about various details about the run. Sorry if I have not been clear on some things, I will try to fix that right now.

Is it OK to come for a day, or go right to the campsite?
Everybody is welcome anytime for as long, or as short, as ya want. If yer bike is down, come to the party on Sunday. Just show up and have a good time.

How much will it cost?
There are no fees. The only official cost is the camping for Saturday night. $12.50. you pay when you check in, just tell them you are with the Gypsy Run.

How do I register for the run?
There is no registration. Just show up.

How do I know where to go?
If you come to the Bowl Bash, I will be handing out maps. If you are at Cool Beans for the Kick off, I will be handing out maps.
The PDF maps will be available for download on Wednesday.

Last year New York started a "crack down" on loud pipes and non DOT helmets. Usually how this goes is the first few weeks the police are out in force, they write some tickets then they get on with something more important. Last year they set up a "Motorcycle Safety Inspection" checkpoint on the main route to a local mega rally and wrote a bunch of tickets. I thought this was all over with, but I was wrong. Read all about this years effort here. This is one of the many good reasons why I don't post the route maps till the last minute. We did not run into anything like this on the run last year but my personal moto is "It is better to have it and not need it that need it and not have it. " so at the very least HAVE YOUR PAPERWORK IN ORDER! (Insurance, Registration and a valid Motorcycle Endorsement.) You can ride away with a ticket for loud pipes, you ain't going anywhere if your bike gets impounded. I don't want to scare anyone off, but it is better to think about it now.

I was keeping this under my hat, but the cat is out of the bag. This year we have a special guest along for the run, Easyriders' chief documentarian Michael Lichter. Anyone who has spent any time with Mike will tell ya the same thing, "good guy to be around, once he gets that whole focus thing down he might get something published". There is a little known fact about Mike, He LOVES it when you flip him the bird when he is taking your picture. You probably won't get in a magazine, but he will appreciate it. (Am I kidding? Only one way to find out...) All joking aside we are blown away that Mike can go anywhere in the world and he decided to come to our run. Thanks Mike!

The Kick Off

The official kick off is 10:00 am at Cool Beans Coffee Shop. Feel free to come by early, they open at 7:00. The food is good, the coffee is great and the girls behind the counter are even better. We will be there around 9:am to get properly caffeinated and pass out run books.

The Pre Run Party (UPDATE 5pm Start)

Arron from the LFTC has set up a pre run party in Brooklyn for Thursday night before the Gypsy Run.
The party starts around 5pm. It lasts till it's over. The Gypsy Run Crew will be on hand to drink all the beer and hand out some swag to the guy who does the best "skateboard trick". We will also have Run Books with a special ESCAPE FROM BROOKLYN section.

The Bike Show

During the Party on Sunday we will be having our version of a bike show. We have thought long and hard about the prizes we would be giving out. We thought instead of the typical trophy and a hardy pat on the back, we should give out prizes that motorcyclists would actually use everyday. Like this. You will have to wait till sunday to see all the prizes, (in all their awesomeness!) But without further adieu... The Categories!

BEST BIKE The overall best bike on the run.
THE ALMOST MEMORIAL JOE SCRAPER BEST BRITISH BIKE AWARD The best british bike on the run.
HIGH MILAGE Is awarded to the person who rode the farthest to the run
THE MacGyver This prize is awarded to the person who completes the best roadside repair.
ROLLING DEATHTRAP This prize is awarded to the person who completes the run on the bike that shouldn't have made it.
THE BMF This prize is awarded to the person who goes above and beyond, Has the highest batting average, can pull off wearing plaid, can carve a Tiki out of a thousand year old oak tree equipped with nothing more than razor sharp wit. The Bad MotherFucker.

Camping

We have found some amazing accommodations for this years run. Friday night's campground is actually an old horse racing track. The owner has graciously let us pitch our tents for the night, and he will be opening the main building so we can have use of the facilities. It is a half a mile from a liquor store. A mile from a gas station/grocery store. There is a bike shop within five miles, and there are some great local diners. Did I mention that we will be the only people there? Perfect!
Saturday night set up is a traditional camp ground with traditional camp ground amenities. Pool, Bathroom, shower, Etc. We have reserved Area 51 for the Beer garden and the pavilion for setting up camp. There is local gas, food and a bike shop within 10 miles. The campground is just few miles from the bar of legend! The guys that were on the first Gypsy Run know what I am talking about, the rest of you are just gonna have to wait and experience it yourself!
Ya know what they say, nothing in life is free... oh wait. actually friday night is free. Ya know what they say, nothing on saturday is free. That they are right about, saturdays camping will cost you $12.50. But, to make up for that inconvenience I will buy everyone beer.

This years end of run Party / Bike Show / Throwdown is gonna be a little different. Darren (DSL on the boards) has graciously offered up his super secret private bar for the party. This is in a part of town where there are few people and cops fear to tread! (I am taking some poetic license, but the point is we won't be bothered) There is a full bar and we will be cranking up the grill for some snacks! Feel free to invite anyone to the party. The address and coordinates will be in the info section on the site and in the run book.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I would like to have a fantastic excuse, but I don't. Like everyone else I have been trying to find a way to get everything done. I can tell you this. This years run will make the first two look like a trip to the grocery store! Fritz has outdone himself. Fast bits, Twisty bits, Slow bits, tons of gas stops... it has it all. Run Shirts are being printed, Prizes are showing up, The party is planned. It is all coming together.
